About Hastings Library

Library lessons incorporate one or more of our library & technology strands:

Borrowing Policies
  • The borrowing limit for grades 1-3 is a maximum of two (2) books.
  • For the first few months, Kindergarteners will check out one book at a time until they have learned the routine. Then they will enjoy a maximum of two (2) books for the rest of the year.
  • Grade 1-3 students may borrow up to four (4) books if they have overdue books.
  • Grade 1-3 students may borrow up to four (4) books if they forgot to return books.
  • All books are due after two (2) weeks but students are welcome to return books earlier each week during scheduled library class if they choose.
  • Books may be renewed once (1) for a total of four (4) weeks.
  • If there is a book that a student wants but it is currently checked out, students can put a hold on the book. 
  • Library Overdue Notices will be sent as a friendly reminder email periodically so families can help find and return library books. Families that do not have an email will receive paper notices.
  • There are no late fees for overdue books.
  • There is a replacement fee for lost or damaged books.​
